Summary of the differences between USA Hockey & AAU

In an effort to maintain a high degree of consistency throughout youth ice hockey within the United States, the AAU has opted to utilize major portions of rules established by USA Hockey.

The primary differences are listed as:

(1) AAU allows playing of conventional Full-Ice hockey at Mite classifications.

(2) AAU utilizes the regulation Black Puck at Mite classifications. Leagues are permitted to use the light-weight Blue Puck. However, the Paul Louis Arena Mite AAU Tournaments shall use the Black Puck.

(3) The 9-Dot Face-off system shall be used
